Why did Marcela quit Keto?
What did she discover?
A need for weight loss:
Marcela 76 was set on losing weight. The Keto diet was her go-to solution. So she convinced us to try it & we agreed.
She is a lovely lady with a fun personality. The ladies' group thrives on her fun topics at the monthly meetings.
Then at the meeting, she tells us:
“Friends, I am done with Keto! I am happy with a 7lb weight loss in four months. I was not aware of some essential facts. Fortunately, my nutritionist enlightened me.
Let me tell you what I learned & what we all need to know as senior ladies.
A keto diet starves your body of carbs, forcing your body to burn fat for energy, reducing body fat & losing weight.
Burning fat produces ketones, which have health benefits, but the downside is eating only acid-forming foods can reduce the density, thickness, volume, & strength of your bones at our age.
I did not know that!
Over time, Keto may cause debilitating fractures, micro-cracks in the vertebrae, a curvature of the spine & shrinking in height.
I am already short & stocky as it is!
So I will eat small portions…
