We, the public, all want healthy food and, therefore, healthy animals and a positive impact on the environment, primarily animal wellbeing.

High-quality animal-based proteins, such as beef, pork, poultry, eggs & dairy, are essential for a nutritious, balanced diet.

However, there are concerns about antibiotics given to animals and their impact on your health and the environment.

These labels often raise questions like;

  1. Are antibiotics present in the meat or not?
  2. When & why do farmers use antibiotics for animals?

Reports from veterinarian Dr. Kristin Obbink, assistant director of the National Institute of the National Antimicrobial Resistance Research & Education from Iowa State University in Ames, explains as follows;

Livestock farmers consult with their veterinarians to determine the best treatment for farm animals. She says that sometimes farmers must use appropriate antibiotics for sick animals.
