Kashmir, was a Hindu State till the Moguls entered India. The present Moghul garden was originally called Bagh-i-Tut or Mulberry Garden. This was a grove of mulberry trees The garden was later maintained by succeeding Muslim rulers 14th century onwards and is said to have existed till the 19th C.
