In the lush rainforests of the Philippines, a species of medium-sized doves will leave you in awe!

The Luzon bleeding-heart pigeon is endemic to the island of Luzon in the Philippines, where the locals call it Puñalada. It lives in primary or secondary forests and can be found at altitudes varying from up to 1400 meters above sea level.

Luzon is the largest and most northerly major island of the Philippines, in the western Pacific Ocean. The Luzon rainforests ecoregion encompasses Luzon itself and includes the Batanes and Babuyan Islands to the north, the Catanduanes and Polillo Islands to the east, and Marinduque to the southwest.
