Finding Comfort and Guidance in Psalm 23

A Sermon by a Guest Preacher:

Yesterday at church, a guest pastor treated us to an inspiring sermon. He shared a fascinating story about the background of Psalm 23, which brought new depth and meaning to the passage. I found it engaging and thought-provoking.

This is what he passed on to us:

“As you all know, the young David in the Bible was a brave shepherd boy who fearlessly defended his flock from wolves using a simple sling and a smooth rock. He skillfully aimed and took down any wolf attempting to harm his precious sheep.

It is said that David's concern was the pestilence of flies among the sheep. The botfly deposits larvae, not eggs, in the sheep's nostrils. The larvae move and grow within the nasal cavity and the frontal sinuses.
