Today we have a roundtable discussion of salad preparations for Kate’s bridal shower. Her friends are groupies who follow weight management foods. So, every salad dish must have its historical origins and contents at the serving table.

We agree to use organic ingredients as requested by the host. The salads of her choice are;

The Caesar.

The Fancy Waldorf.

The Brown Derby Cobb.

I make the original Caesar salad & find the story of the origin of this famous salad, and add the details on guest cards;

The Original Caesar Salad.

The origin of Caesar salad dates back to the ancient Romans, but it has nothing to do with the Roman emperor.

Its inventor Caesar Cardini, an American immigrant from Northern Italy, served the salad in his restaurants throughout California & in Tijuana in the 1920s. In addition, Cardini opened Caesar’s Hotel in San Diego and Tijuana.

Tijuana was a magnet for Hollywood stars during Prohibition. Caesar’s hotel & restaurants attracted rich folks looking for a good time & a drink. Stars like…
