The Bold Ravens at Yellowstone National Park.

Excerpts from our recent October tour:

In Yellowstone National Park, a fascinating family of ravens adds a touch of mystery to the wilderness. These clever black birds are more than just scavengers — they're intelligent explorers, capable of understanding cause and effect.
While sitting on the porch at our cozy rental cottage, we are frequently treated to riveting visits from these shiny, noisy, curious creatures, turning everyday moments into extraordinary encounters with nature.

We learn from the Rangers at the park:

Ravens are surprisingly clever and resourceful when it comes to their food sources. They are drawn to wolf kills and often follow wolves during their hunts for elk, waiting patiently for the opportunity to scavenge.
Wolves offer better access to carrion because ravens cannot easily tear through thick animal skin on their own.

These highly adaptable birds have been known to scavenge almost anything — some have even mastered the skill of unzipping and unsnapping backpacks in parking lots, turning human clutter into their buffet.
