We find her sitting on the porch.

From where did she come? A beautiful Bengal with a friendly attitude, moving her tail joyfully & brushing her body against my leg as if she knew me!

Oh! My! she allows me to pick her up! She purrs as if she found her best friend. I confirm it is a girl, as she has the blue tattoo on her belly of a spayed female, but she has no collar. I name her Nancy after my best friend.

My first thought, she is a lost kitty. We need to find the owner asap!

Her picture & details go on social media;

‘Please claim your lost cat. Here is the phone number.’

We place posters around the community areas. Two weeks go by, and no claims. We continue to wait.

In the meantime, Nancy has acclimated herself to our home. She loves us, especially the children, and we reciprocate and talk to her, feed her & pay for a vet visit. But, unfortunately, there is no identification chip present.

Now, what is so unique about this breed — the Bengal? First, I teach the kids what I have learned.

Bengals are a domesticated cat breed created from Egyptian Mau, Abyssinian, and the Asian Leopard cat. The name is from the Leopard cat’s taxonomic name…
