Taking care of my Lawn:

After the winter, my lawn was in terrible shape, which frustrated me. But with the advice from our local horticulturist, my lawn is now the pride of the neighborhood.

What did I do?

In the spring, I aerate the lawn to help air, water, and soil nutrients penetrate and encourage better root development.

After aerating, top-dress with compost.

I remove half an inch of thatch, leaving some thatch to benefit the lawn, as it helps regulate soil temperature.

I test the pH of the soil. I keep the pH between 6.5 and 7.0

Water:

I water the lawn deeply and thoroughly twice a week. Proper watering is crucial for a healthy lawn. Improper watering can cause yellowing, weeds, and disease.

Mow:

I mow the lawn at a higher height and ensure my mower blade is sharp. Cutting the grass too short can damage the plants and reduce their ability to soak up sunlight.

Fertilize:

I fertilize my lawn twice a year to keep it healthy and green. However, I must be careful not to…
