Siamese Fighting Fish are fighting for their lives!
So please don’t keep them in tiny plastic cups!
I write about Betta fish since some parents buy them as pets for their kids but fail to understand or learn about the needs & care of these beautiful creatures!
It is a great disappointment for me.
A little history of these beauties:
Betta fish are freshwater fish native to Thailand, Cambodia, Laos & Vietnam. They live in ditches, rice paddies, marshes, ponds, & shallow waters of slow-moving streams.
Aquarium habitat:
Bettas require filtered water in a 5–10 gallon aquarium at 78 & 82 degrees Fahrenheit. They use a unique labyrinth organ for breathing above the water.
Nutrition:
Bettas are carnivores, feeding on insects & insect larvae in the wild. However, they thrive on protein-based frozen & flake foods in an aquarium.
Why the name?
They are named ‘Siamese fighting fish’ or ‘labyrinth fish.’
Their scientific name is Betta Splendens.
