We know the placenta is the organ that forms on the wall of the uterus during pregnancy & is connected to the fetus by the umbilical cord.

It acts as a transport system; the organ delivers oxygen & nutrients from the mother’s blood to the developing fetus and removes waste products from the baby’s blood.

Furthermore, it protects the baby against the mother’s immune system & produces hormones that maintain a healthy pregnancy.

They deliver the placenta after the birth of the baby & treat it as medical waste in most hospitals or birth centers.

Some cultures bury their placentas to honor the valuable organ. However, since 1979, the controversial practice of placentophagy started in North America.

Most non-human mammals with a placenta consume their placenta as a way of eradicating the scent of the newborn to protect it from predators.

In ancient Chinese medicine, they used the human placenta to treat medical problems, such as infertility and liver problems. Other literature suggests that mammals eat their placenta to regain nutrients lost during labor & delivery and to encourage…
