On Tragedy, Tolerance & Benevolence.

I have not known a more tolerant & giving person like my friend Martha. She was my co-worker and good friend for the past fifteen years.

I have seen her cope with tragedies, go through periods of grief and still show up at work with an attitude of caring and pleasantness towards her patients.

Nine years ago, Martha’s husband divorced her & then married her friend, Joanna.

Martha lost her home in the settlement with no alimony award. She was not bitter & said Jason paid for the house.

Martha felt losing Jason was her fault, “If only I paid more attention to his emotional needs, instead of my job-I could have saved my marriage.” she said.

“I love Jason, but now I am in the midst of darkness. I cry myself to sleep. I pray to God to lift this calamity, and I know He hears me.”

Last year, Jason was involved in a terrible crane accident at his work, leaving him unconscious for nine days in the hospital. He suffered a concussion & paralysis of lower limbs from a spinal injury.

Martha asked Joanna if she could visit & help. Joanna agreed & was grateful. Martha requested a leave of absence and gave full-time care to Jason once he came home from the rehab center. Her friendship with Joanna never…
