I Stepped On My Cat's Tail!
And she is mad at me!
"Why do you always walk in front of me?" I scold Skippy, after I accidentally stepped on her tail.
She yowled loud, it was painful. She ran & hid in the corner and would not come out despite my apologies, sweet talk & offer of her favorite snack. I had to let her be until she feels better & forgives me.
So what is so special about the cat's tail?
Well, I learn from the cat expert Ms. Lisa Chelenza of New York State in her publication of March 2015;
The cat's tail is an extension of its spine. It provides balance & helps the cat stay warm.
When cats walk along narrow fences or high places, their tail acts as a counterbalance that helps them stay balanced & accurate when pouncing on prey.
Cats use their tails as a means of communication:
For example, if the tail is straight-up it acts as a greeting.
A curve at the tip of the tail can mean your cat is in a state of relaxation.
A puffed-up tail is a sign of dominance or confrontation.
Quick tail flicks mean the kitty is ready to pounce.
