The ill-treatment Sarah faced may have led her into a depressive state that she attempted to soothe with alcohol. Her alcohol addiction eventually killed her but even in death, there was no peace for Sarah as her body was dissected by a French scientist who pickled her brains, buttocks, and genitalia which were displayed in jars at the Musée de l’Homme (Museum of Man) in Paris until 1974.
