I am ashamed of my ignorance!

The past week I went to see a dermatologist about hyperpigmentation of my facial skin.

He informs me about sun damage & the importance of sunscreens. We look at my labs to exclude liver disease. An evaluation of meds & supplements proves to be negative for harmful factors, & I do not take female hormones or any prescribed medications.

Then my Dermatologist asks about my daily activities & type of hobby or business I am involved in — for example, gardening and outdoor pursuits. Of course, I spend a lot of time on my laptop too.

Well, whaddayaknow! The doctor enlightens me about sunlight & Blue Light!

What is Blue Light?

Blue light is emitted by indoor lighting and standard electronic devices, like computer screens & smartphones. Although the light emitted is minimal, keeping them close to & in our faces becomes a cumulative issue.

He says studies show that a typical eight-hour workday of staring into a screen can amount to 20 minutes of being in direct sunlight for the skin.
