HER MOTHER’S HORMONES,
Made Pauline Leave Home.
“Whose suitcases are at the front door, Pauline?” yelled Betty, Pauline’s mother. “They are mine Ma. I am going to live with Grandpa. I am tired of your yelling & fighting with my Dad every single day for months on end!”
Sixteen-year-old Pauline steps out of her room carrying books and her backpack. She was doing her homework when her parents had their usual shouting match. Then, finally, her Dad went to his office.
“Why are you so mean to Dad? He cannot do or say anything & you put him down. You throw plates and pans at him. It has to stop! He works long hours to stay away from your perpetual bad moods & anger. You are not good for my Dad.” says Pauline in a heartbroken voice.
Betty confronts Pauline & says, “I love your Dad. He knows it’s my hormones, and it affects my moods. If you leave, you will be on your own.”
“You need therapy, Ma. I will go with you for counseling. If you do not, Dad will leave you. I know your behavior depresses him. Life is too short to live under so much stress.” says Pauline.
Pauline tells Betty about being fearful of a bad event if things do not change in their relationship.
