I respect Japanese culture and pride in caring for so many animals. I am in awe of their ability to create these magical sanctuaries to keep animals safe yet free to roam.

Zao Fox Village is in Japan’s Miyagi prefecture. Here you will see six different types of foxes romp and play together.

Because the foxes are wild & not domesticated, the facility cautions visitors about hand-feeding. So instead, visitors may buy food for eighty-five cents and feed the foxes from the balcony.

The Japanese believe foxes are magical messengers of Inari Okami, the Shinto deity & protector of rice, fertility, and prosperity.

Interesting fox facts I learned on the biggreenk.com by Killingsworth Environmental.

Foxes are small to medium in size. They are omnivorous mammals belonging to several genera of the family of Canidae.

There are 37 foxes, but only 12 belong to “Vulpes” or “true foxes.”
