They’d knock on my window and ask, “Eunice, how much longer?” before going back to their game. Their voices were gentle but tired. I loved them for that — for letting me finish my schedule. I was cramming as much as I could, but some pieces were just impossible to master in a few hours. In some ways, they were part of my education. After exams, they’d hum the tunes with me, and joke about their sleepless nights because of me.
