Friends, we all need to take good care of our teeth and gums.

In 2019 Peter, a 22 yr old Private Service member, was recently released from ICU. He spent five weeks in the hospital with Bacterial Endocarditis. His story is that he developed an infection from an abscessed tooth. Bacteria got absorbed into his bloodstream, & attacked his heart lining.

Improper dental care almost killed this young man. His education on oral care is mandatory. Fortunately, he quit tobacco use earlier in the year. We know that smokers have more tooth and gum problems than non-smokers.

Proper brushing of the teeth followed by flossing, at least twice daily

Electric toothbrushes are known to clean the teeth better than manual toothbrushes. Replace manual toothbrushes every two months.

Fluoride toothpaste strengthens tooth enamel & prevents tooth decay.

Floss before brushing. Learn proper flossing to prevent gum injury. Flossing removes the plaque between the teeth & gums.

Eat a healthy diet. Drink water daily. Water and saliva flush bacteria to the stomach…
