on weaponized incompetence!

Jacinta is a good friend. She visits on & off for a chat & a cup of tea. But more than often, she comes to ‘offload’ her concerns about her married daughter’s husband.

Jacinta complains that Daniel, Peggy’s husband, has not been employed for two years since he lost his job due to Covid.

She calls him a ‘house-husband.’

Peggy is a Social Worker. Her workload had increased due to staff shortages. However, she earns well and takes care of all the bills.

Jacinta complains about Daniel’s unemployment & Peggy’s responsibility as the sole breadwinner.

So, I ask Jacinta how does Peggy feel about the situation. After all, it is her husband.

To which Jacinta responds,

“Peggy does not complain about Daniel staying home. She does not talk about his joblessness. Because he shops, cooks, cleans, does laundry & takes care of the pets. That is not a man’s job, in my view!”

She continues;

“I know he turned down two jobs last month. I think he does not want a job, but my Peggy, bless her heart, does not see it!”

“Would you like more tea, Jacinta?” I ask as I remove her empty cup.
