Carole writes about the death of her brother-in-law from alcohol abuse. She tells how Alcoholic Anonymous helped her & her husband remain sober. I applaud their success. God bless them!
Unfortunately, her stepson has not responded to AA counseling. It is sad!
About my family;
My parents were both alcoholics. AA was unheard of sixty years ago in South Africa. My folks lost everything, even their four young children ages seven, five, four & three. The sadness is the alcohol overtook their lives & became their master.
We lost touch with my father. My mother found ways to keep in touch with us because she knew the State placed us in an orphanage.
Some complex drinkers have the desire to stop, but they fall short of the willpower to quit. So, like my mother, she would stop for a while and then fall deeper into alcoholism, making it more challenging to quit drinking.
