A Snake in My Driveway”

Early yesterday morning,

I walked outside and almost stepped on this snake! Wow!

If it had not moved its head & tongue, I could have missed seeing it.

I am petrified of snakes!

Fortunately, a man in a black truck was driving by. I beckoned him to stop and asked for help.

Nervously saying,” Snake, snake!”

He exited his truck and carefully sauntered over to look at my problem.

He told me it was a nonpoisonous bullsnake that eats rodents. Then he said:

“What would you like me to do, kill it or keep it as your pet!”

Gee whiz, I thought. Is he joking and making fun of me as he noticed I was afraid of the snake?

Nervously, I asked, “Will it be a sin on me if I ask you to kill it?”

“Oh yes,” he beamed. “Big sin on both of us killing God’s creatures, but I will take the blame and tell our Lord, I thought it was the devil. Bring me a shovel or pickaxe.”

I ran to my shed and brought out a shovel.

The snake had not moved from its spot, but its head was swaying, and its tongue was darting in and out, probably to…
